This is an interactive CD-ROM covering the underpinning knowledge in
the four core units in the Seafood Industry Training
Package

videos, animations, drawings and interactive quizzes covering
the core units of competency for each of the catching, aquaculture,
processing, retail/wholesale and distribution of the Seafood Industry.

the Seafood Industry Training Package.
The CD-ROM looks at basic knowledge in food handling, working effectively,
occupational health and safety and communication for the industry. It
has examples from all over Australia covering such diverse subjects
as tuna farming, yabby farming, crocodile farming, pearl farming and
the Sydney Fish Market. It has recently been trialed with trainers across
the country and has been enthusiastically welcomed as a very valuable
resource.

'Managing seafood safety step by
step'
This CD-ROM will assist people working in the seafood industry understand
and comply with food safety requirements.
It is aimed at four user groups:
- seafood industry trainees in either fishing operations, aquaculture
or seafood processing and distribution
- workplace trainers and mentors, and Registered Training Organisations
(RTOs)
- seafood industry members
- people wanting to demonstrate competency in food safety and/or people
wishing to produce their own food safety plan for their own use.
The CD-ROM will take a holistic real work approach. Users will be able
to see how the theory of food safety is translated into work practices
and how several food safety considerations can be covered in one action.
Content for the CD-ROM is sourced from current Seafood Training Australia
material, SeaQual food and safety publications and training videos.
The focus has been to keep the framework flexible to allow the user
to work through the development of a food safety plan independently
of any formal or informal training.

in remote locations to be able to have access (through multimedia) to
observable activities.
The content will meet current Australian New Zealand Food Authority
(ANZFA) and other relevant requirements for food safety plans.
This CD-ROM was "noted" by the Australian National Training
Authority in September 2002. It is a particularly useful tool
for any business wishing to develop and implement their own food safety
plan. For further information contact Seafood Training Australia on

fair and consistent, no matter where or when a person is assessed, our

Aquaculture online teaching and learning
resources
These resources form a toolbox or set of multimedia materials
designed to support the implementation of Certificates II and III in
the Seafood Industry (Aquaculture). It contains the relevant units to
enable a learner or a farmer to gain a foundation in aquaculture in
a flexible way.
This means that learners and farmers based in diverse geographical locations
can access training and knowledge based at the work place. It allows
current and future workers to expand and/or develop their knowledge
and provides opportunity for farmers who wish to diversify their activities
to include land-based aquaculture.
A problem solving approach is used and activities are set in meaningful
and authentic contexts. Simulation, instant feedback and diagnosis are
used to build up the learners knowledge.
The materials can be customised to suit a diverse range of learners
from those who have no knowledge and skills to those people who have
had prior experience in aquaculture.
